CBVA Start of Season 2023/24 Update

Here are important club updates for the beginning of the summer season.

Sub-committee volunteers – A call for assistance!

CBVA is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and we’re looking for your help to support the Club in a number of roles as we head into summer. We believe that it is an incredibly exciting and rewarding time to join a passionate and experienced CBVA team, to make a meaningful contribution to the next phase of CBVA’s journey. Below you will find an outline of the club structure, including current committee members and the vacant roles available. Players, parents, and partners – are all encouraged to participate. You do need to have extensive volleyball experience to help out.

Specific roles have been created for each sub-committee with budget for a discretionary ‘Thank You’ payment.
These positions will be appointed for the next 6 months from October until the new year comes around again in April 2024.

Summer court schedule and coaching update

The summer court schedule is effective from October 1st 2023 to 31 March 2024. CBVA has a licence agreement with Randwick City Council (RCC) to use the five designated court spaces at the beach, and there are agreed times when we can have courts set up. This varies by day of the week and court. It’s important for our relationship with RCC and other beach users in the community that our members adhere to these conditions (particularly as we’re coming up for a lease renewal in June 2024). This might take some adjustment from our winter playing conditions, so we appreciate you taking the time to be clear on the new playing times.

Monday – Friday
6:00am to 10:00am – Courts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
10:00am to 5:00pm – Courts 1, 2 and 5
5:00pm to 8:00pm – Courts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Saturday
6:00am to 9:00am – Courts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
9:00am to 6:00pm – Courts 1, 2 and 5
6:00pm to 8:00pm – Courts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Sunday
12:00pm to 5:30pm – Courts 1, 2 and 5
5:30pm to 8:00pm – Courts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

We’ve also been liaising with our Adult and Junior coaching program coordinators to refresh the detailed court schedule and training offering. From feedback received from the recent member survey, we’re in the process of standardising the naming of training classes to help you find a level that’s best suited for you. Coach bios are also being added to the website to help you get to know our coaches, their experience and coaching styles.

Coaching is an area of focus for the Board and we’re are looking to make further refinements based on the feedback received, so please be patient as these changes are progressively made.

Upcoming event in October 2023

Upcoming events both CBVA related (social events, tournaments etc), and tournaments belonging to Volleyball NSW, NBVA and beachvolleyball.com.au (Maroubra) have been added to the EVENTS CALENDAR on our website.

Beach clean up – The event will be held on Sunday, October 15th from 9:30am – 11:30am, organised by Plastic Free Coogee in conjunction with Coogee Runners. Stay tuned for a registration link to be circulated shortly. We encourage you to wear some of your CBVA apparel and represent the Club at this great community initiative.

Start of season social event – We’re planning to have a gathering for members on October 21st to celebrate the start of the season and CBVA’s founding anniversary. More details to follow.

Tournaments, tournaments, tournaments – CBVA’s 4×4 State Of Origin (October 21st – Get excited; it has a been a while!); Multiple NSW Beach Volleyball Tour rounds in Manly, Mollymook and Brighton; NBVA #1 and #2 and a couple of Maroubra events.

Tournament Results

CBVA had almost 50 CBVA members participate in the first round of the Volleyball NSW Beach Volleyball Tour at Maroubra Beach, with some players going to place highly in their respective divisions. Congratulations to all the winners and runners up of your respective divisions. An incredible set of results across both days.
